Living City receives two awards from the Catholic Press Association
This year’s Catholic Press Awards, which were judged by an expert panel from the American Press Institute, recognized Living City with two awards, one for general excellence and another in the best feature category. The association includes 275 publications from the United States and Canada, with a total circulation of close to 13 million.
In the general-interest category, Living City took third place for general excellence. “A thoughtful mix of story types, along with useful regular features, makes this magazine especially practical and user-friendly,” reads the award. “The cover and features also benefit from crisp design and photography.”
Our thanks goes in a special way to all those who have contributed to the magazine with their writing, copyediting and proofreading, and especially to Jan White for his sharp, creative and artistic “editing by design” mentoring.
“Circus Sisters” by Martina Hart (October 2009) came in third in the best feature race. “Any good journalist can find a story out there that no readers might be aware of and create a fascinating story,” wrote a panelist. “This story is just that. Who hasn’t thought of being one of those people who bring the circus to town? My only critique of this article is that it is too short.”
The Living City staff would like to extend their gratitude to all of our readers and supporters who have made it possible to publish this magazine for the past 43 years.
These awards belong to all of us!
