As we celebrate Black History Month, the imam of Harlem’s historic Malcolm Shabazz Mosque explains projects underway that promote community and dialogue.
A community of primarily African-American Muslims in New York, the Malcolm Shabazz Mosque in Harlem has been led by Imam Izak-el Pasha since 1993. It is a historic place where Malcolm X once wrote and spoke and, although its main goal is to strengthen Islamic life in the city, there is an awareness that only dialogue between religions can guarantee a future of peace.
