She wasn’t just happy, I was too!

She wasn’t just happy, I was too!
Children across the country and around the world learn the Gospel-based Art of Loving through the Cube of Love program. Here’s how fifth-grader Anne, from Vancouver, Canada, tried to practice “Love others as yourself.”

In my house, I kept eating my candy from trick-or-treating on Halloween. My sister didn’t eat as much candy as me. She got upset because she didn’t get the same amount as I did. At first, I didn’t care. I thought that it wasn’t my fault and that she had to deal with it.

Then I realized how I would feel if I were her right now at that moment. I remembered the Golden Rule, “Treat others the way you would like to be treated.” If I were her, I would want someone to care. So I walked over and gave her most of my candy, even those I really liked.

I learned that every good thing you do to make another person happy not only makes them happy but you too!
